BioSecurity
Healthy chickens stay healthy because their environments are controlled. Delaware Crossing Farm strives to limit potential disease carriers from entering our coop and property, including people, equipment, and wildlife.
Some of our Biosecurity Best Practices include:
- All new equipment is cleaned and sanitized before it enters the coop
- Visitors are required to wear disposable covers or dedicated rubber soled footwear before entering poultry pastures.
- Cleaning and disinfecting feeders and waterers regularly.
- Empty, clean, and disinfect coops quarterly, with monthly coop clean outs.
- Wildlife, wild bird, rodent, and fly control.
- Never adding adult birds to our flock.
- Quarantine new birds and suspicious cases.
